Unlocking the Science of Hair Loss: Understanding the Root Causes

Alopecia is the medical term used for hair loss condition. There are more than 20 types of alopecia and they can broadly be divided into those that cause scarring and those that are non-scarring.  The most common type which affects men is male pattern hair loss. The female equivalent tends to be female pattern hair loss which develops much more slowly. There are other types of hair loss which are not a hormone or genetic dependent and these include those that are autoimmune such as alopecia areata which is another very common cause of hair loss.
